Methodist News Service seeks a journalist with a passion
for telling powerful stories and a lively enthusiasm for
working with the written word, photography, video and
audio. Strong writing skills and experience with social
media are required. The reporter must be a self-starter
with a positive attitude and a heart for working in a
team setting. A strong command of English is a must, and
fluency in a language other than English is a plus. UMNS
is the news agency of The United Methodist Church and
operates with editorial autonomy. Familiarity with The
United Methodist Church or mainline denominations is
helpful but not required. Please send a resume and cover

The job requires a bachelors
degree in journalism, broadcast or a related field
or at least two years experience as a professional
news writer. (Four years total experience in media
and communications/journalism.) Knowledge of The United Methodist
Church is needed. Must have the ability to relate to
persons representing a wide range of cultural,
theological and political perspectives. Must work
independently. Must be able to meet daily deadlines. Must
have a commitment to the Christian faith. Basic
knowledge of photography and Microsoft Office and use of
the Internet is required. Editorial experience on a
newspaper, magazine or with news wire service is
